Soundraise

Changing lives through

music

Our mission: To provide disadvantaged children with all the equipment they need to learn and develop a passion for music.

We believe that music is something everyone can learn, love, and enjoy, and that money should never be a barrier to pursuing music education. We work primarily with low-decile schools at a primary and intermediate level, which don't have the means to provide adequate equipment and upkeep of performing arts equipment. If you are a teacher or administrator at a low-decile school, please fill in the form "get in touch" below or email us, to see how we can help you.

If you want to contribute to this cause, you can donate here:

"With the gear we have received we will have decent instruments to practice with and perform with, give students who are practicing a quieter space with the electronic drumkit, expand on students being able to use music technology with recording equipment, and create a mini recording studio where we can decently record students. Thank you Soundraise for this amazing opportunity for our students."

Skye Langi - Greenmeadows School

"The instruments we received from SoundRaiseNZ are going to greatly improve our ability to give more kids opportunities to learn instruments, create bands and collaborate with each other. This is something we are wanting to do more of this year and into the next. It is great to now have some instruments that are reliable, in great working order and will give students a great opportunity to learn and play on excellent equipment. We are so grateful to Soundraise for offering this gear to our school."

Shaun Holmes - Edgewater School

"The equipment Manurewa Intermediate School received from Soundraise will be beneficial to all students taking part in classroom music during their time with us. The instruments will allow the students to hone in on their songwriting skills and performance abilities as they learn chords and song structures through our music program."

Ross Devereux - Manurewa Intermediate

"The music instruments we received will help upskill the students of Dawson Primary. The students will get a chance to be exposed to other instruments they would only see on TV, live concerts, or paid tuition. The students of Dawson Primary will have access to learning their favourite songs they hear on TV or radio and also classic NZ songs. These instruments will be the beginning of their music career."

Our Impact

The Story of Soundraise

Hey, I'm Aadi Golchha, the founder of Soundraise.

My journey with music started in Year 6, when I moved to Mission Heights Primary School. Being able to go into the music department every lunchtime and just pick up a ukulele was one of my favourite things to do and something that made me excited to go to school. I started playing the electric guitar in intermediate, and began to compete in music competitions and perform at school with my band, with the help of our amazing music teachers, Mr. Bartlett and Mr. Picot.

As I got older, I became aware of the disparity between my higher decile school in Flatbush and schools in some less fortunate surrounding areas in South Auckland. There's always a huge interest in the arts and music among primary school students, but without adequate equipment and instruction, it's easy for that passion to get lost.

At age 16, I set up Soundraise, to provide disadvantaged children with equipment to learn and develop a passion for music. Our charity’s motto is ‘Changing Lives Through Music'. I believe that music is something everyone should have access to enjoy, regardless of socioeconomic background.

For me, passing on my love of music has been an amazing experience. I’m looking to help every possible school that needs music equipment through this initiative. Music can do wonders for society by channelling the energy that our youngsters have into creative Music pursuits.
